Our response to the 2016 budget

Posted by AfC Policy and campaigns / Wednesday 16 March 2016 / Government spending

In response to the Chancellor’s announcement today on schools reforms, Kate Mulley, Director of Policy and Campaigns at charity Action for Children, said:

“The Government’s focus on education starts too late to deliver on their promise to improve children’s life chances. A missed opportunity in this budget to make a difference for the one in three children who are not reaching the level needed to start school. Those who arrive at school at the bottom stay there.

“We are calling on the Government to really put the next generation on a stable footing by acting now to make sure children are ready for school on the day they walk through the gates.”
